Crop Top

Shirt:    American Apparel
Pants:  Ark & Co (similar here)
Bag:     J Crew
Rings:  Violetfly on Etsy
Sunglasses:  Ray Ban

My favorite trend this summer is definitely the crop top.  I’ve been wearing this one from American Apparel non-stop since I bought it.

To me, this summer’s crop tops look best when paired with high-waisted bottoms—that way not too much skin is showing.

I bought these pants from Habit Boutique here in Miami.  I had them hemmed short so that I could wear them with flat sandals for a more casual feel, but I think they would look equally as good left long and worn with platforms.

Bell Bottoms and Aviators

Jacket:           Zara (old, but similar here)
Shirt:               Madewell
Jeans:              Level 99
Belt:                 Forever 21 (old, but similar here)
Sunglasses:     Ray Ban

Sorry if you guys are getting sick of this jacket already, but I really love it—so you better get used to it J.  Apparently army green goes with everything.  Who knew?  For those of you who haven’t been following along, and are seeing it for the first time, you can check out the other ways I have worn it here and here.

This outfit, (like this one) is a pretty good example of my typical off-duty outfit.  Because I’ve been working like a crazy person lately, my weekends have been pretty low key, and therefore, so have my outfits.  The bell bottoms and aviators give this one a 70’s feel.

Chilly

Sweater:      Zara
Jeans:           Citizens of Humanity
Booties:       See By Chloe
Scarf:            Unknown brand (but similar, here)
Sunglasses:  Ray Ban

The past few days have been a little bit chilly here in Miami, so I was finally able to break out my sweaters and boots J.  I think this outfit really sums up my everyday style—casual and comfortable.  I’m a lazy girl at heart, so I wear my hair in a bun about 90% of the time.  On my days off, I almost always wear jeans.  I love the wash on this pair from Citizens of Humanity.  The sweater I recently bought at Zara (for only $25).  To achieve the over-sized look, I bought it two sizes up from my usual size.  I wanted it to be baggy for a more laid back feel.  The booties… my favorite part of this outfit and my favorite new purchase.  I have to admit that Amazon sort of conned me into impulse buying these See by Chloe Wallabee booties (you know when the website displays that there are only 3 left in stock, but then after you purchase yours, it still says there are three left in stock….hmmmm…very interesting).  Anyway, impulse buy or not, I am really happy I got them and I know they will get a lot of use.  I’ve already worn them two times this week!

On a different note, I want to express my sympathy to all those on the East Coast who have been effected by hurricane Sandy.  I encourage everyone to help out in any way they can.  Long Island <3.

Plain and Simple

Dress:             F21 (old, but similar here)
Belt:                Madewell
Shoes:             Steve Madden (old, but similar here)
Sunglasses:    Carrera

I’m a big fan of maxi dresses.  I have quite a few of them and they are all “go-to” items in my closet.  Not only are maxi dresses super comfortable (especially in the unbearable Miami heat), but they always look stylish, without making it look like you tried too hard.  I will keep wearing my maxi dresses into the fall and winter (I know Miami doesn’t really have a fall or a winter, but whatever), accessorizing with cute scarves, a jean jacket, or my Zara army green parka.

On a side note, these pictures were taken in Central Park’s Conservatory Gardens.  The Gardens are so beautiful.  Definitely one of NYC’s hidden treasures.

A Little Leopard

Today was the maiden voyage of my new camera (a Nikon D3100).  Before starting this blog, the extent of my experience with photography was an elective course I took in college.  I took photography thinking it would be an easy A—it turned out to be my worst grade that semester.  Needless to say, I am no photography expert.

I decided that, in order to make my blog better, I would need to learn how to take pictures (in part because I am too embarrassed to have anyone else take pictures of me).  So, I got a new digital SLR camera, and started reading.  After learning a few tips, I took these photos of myself, using a tripod and wireless remote.  Not too shabby (for my first time).  What do you think?
